The PreCalculus text had some graphs about readership of newspapers in general, and it started a class discussions about the changing sources of our news.
The idea was that they would get numbers for the readership of newspapers over time and compare that to the viewership of TV stations over time, etc.
This project turned out to be a tough one because of data quality. A radio station that has had the numbers of listeners decline is unlikely for reasons of marketing to volunteer those numbers.
This project worked quite well, and when the teams compared notes, they were able to make some excellent generalizations.
