Your Very Own Mathweb
Really one of the keys to success for the project has been the fact that the Math Department had a server on the intranet to host projects.
Administration was local and didn't have too many layers.
The server was not viewed as "mission critical" and since it was on the intranet, there were not issues like getting the "style" approved.
The machine was based on Linux, and so licensing was free.
Probably the easiest option for student web pages is SME. A howto to manage the student file server setup at Culver is on the CD.
The current Culver Mathweb is based on Whitebox Enterprise Linux, and it has a howto on the CD too.
If you decide to put one of these into service, contact Tom Haynes. He has a beta version of an install CD.
