The class attempted to define mathematics, and there was a discussion on the Moodle site. The initial assignment was to consider the study of math and to credit any source of information. The internet or another faculty member was an appropriate source.
Students were also asked to provide a picture to illustrate one of the points. The pictures were pretty disappointing for the most part in that they did not illustrate points, but this is a learning process.
Students then wrote in a digital journal, and there was an opportunity to get some feedback from Mr. Haynes. A couple of the areas that several students missed involved math modeling and the use of graphing to display data.
The next step is to put this information in the form of a web page, and the pages above are the first drafts. Students will be given a scoring rubric that will include components for aesthetic qualities (how it looks), mechanics (grammar, spelling, hyperlinks), and content.
The content has to be 100% on topic. Commentary on politics, the assignment, etc. don't need to be on this page since they should not be part of a definition of mathematics.
Students should not use any of the features like counters or message areas. Stick to the question and discuss on Moodle.
